Featured Flaxton Gardens Wedding – Tegan & Kieran

Cyclone Debbie Couldn’t Stop Tegan & Kieran’s Wedding at Flaxton Gardens

Tegan and Kieran celebrated their Flaxton Gardens Wedding on 30th March, the day that Ex-Cyclone Debbie unleashed her heavy rain and cyclonic wind on the Sunshine Coast.

When Tegan and Kieran initially visited Flaxton Gardens, they “fell in love with the venue at first sight”, but also felt reassured that Flaxton Gardens offered a wet weather option if required.  Of course, they didn’t realise at the time that they would actually need to employ this option on their wedding day!

Flaxton Gardens offers a range of location options for your ceremony and reception. When the weather doesn’t cooperate on your special day, and your ceremony is planned for one of our gorgeous outdoor garden areas, arrangements can quickly be made to move the ceremony indoors to the Barrel Room or Winery.

This was the case for Tegan and Kieran, however the change in plan didn’t appear to phase the bride and groom, as Tegan advised that her most precious memory of the day was, “The intimate ceremony that my husband and I got to share with our close friends and family. Although there was cyclonic weather occurring outside, the Flaxton Garden venue (the Winery) made for an amazing love filled bunker and perfect place for us to exchange our vows.”

Most Unique Feature of Flaxton Gardens

Tegan felt the most unique thing about Flaxton Gardens was “The opportunity to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in one place, across three or more different sections of the venue. The artificial stars above the dance floor was also a very unique aspect that was also included in the package pricing.”

Another feature that Tegan found quite unique to Flaxton Gardens is the extensive range of on-site photography opportunities around the venue and also in the grounds of our accommodation options, such as Flaxton Grove. Even with the cyclonic weather experienced that day, their wedding photographer, Bernadette Draffin, was able to find some protected locations around the venue and the weather itself also made for some amazing images for the couple, as can be seen below.

Best Piece of Advice

The best piece of advice the Flaxton Gardens Wedding Team gave Tegan was “Regardless of what happens on the day, we will take care of it”. This was very reassuring to the couple in the lead up to their wedding. Tegan recalled “on the day there were many things that the FG team handled discreetly with sheer professionalism and diplomacy… it wasn’t until the following day that our guests told us about how well the FG team had handled these situations on our behalf.”

Finally, the one thing that Tegan and Kieran would tell other brides-to-be considering Flaxton Gardens… “Just do it, FG and their experienced team are five star, you will not regret your decision, they are amazing in every aspect of wedding planning and hosting.”

The entire Flaxton Gardens Team wish Tegan and Kieran all the very best for their life together as husband and wife, and we hope to see you back here again soon!

Mad Hatters High Tea with Todd and Sami

Flaxton Gardens teams up with Todd & Sami

The inaugural Mad Hatters High Tea event was held on 30th April at Flaxton Gardens, with special guests, the amazing Todd and Sami from the Sunshine Coast’s 92.7 MixFM. It was a fabulous afternoon of a little bit of crazy thrown in with a lot of fun, delicious High Tea food and a glass of bubbly or two!

Todd was the star attraction as the Mad Hatter, and the lovely Sami was fabulous as the Queen of Hearts (we think!). Blessed with a glorious day, guests donned their hats and bunny ears and enjoyed Flaxton’s Famous High Tea with a glass of bubbles, and a lot of laughter! Guests were treated to an afternoon of crazy antics, fun and games on the lawn, and prize giveaways.

Whether the guests took part in the lawn games such as Croquet and Bocce, tackled the Giant Jenga, or decided to lounge on the lawn with a glass of bubbly and delicious sweet and savoury High Tea delights, there was something for everyone. The highlight of the afternoon had to be the Tug-o-War, when the lovely Sami lead the ladies to victory against Todd and the smaller contingent of men and children, even dragging Todd across the line!

We have provided a small selection of photos from the day below, however there are many more to view, so pop on over to the Mad Hatter High Tea Gallery from Tracey Beard Photographer, look for your photos and download them with compliments of Tracey.

Thanks go to Todd and Sami from 92.7 MixFM for being such wonderful hosts on the day, Cloud Nine Weddings for assisting with the décor, and to Tracey Beard Photographer for photographing the event.

Vintage Calendar Girls & Jaguar Photo Shoot

Flaxton Gardens the backdrop for Vintage Calendar Girls Photo-shoot

On the 27th April we were privileged to have the Vintage Calendar Girls at Flaxton Gardens for their first calendar photo shoot of the year for their 2018 Calendar.

Sunshine Coast local stylist, Misty Bland, founded the Vintage Calendar Girls in February 2015 following the diagnosis of her husband, Rob, with a rare cancer, Chordoma. Vintage Calendar Girls is a group of beautiful women stepping out of their comfort zone to pose for a unique “Vintage Style” Calendar to raise awareness and much needed funds for local cancer patients and warriors on the Sunshine Coast.

Misty and her team of stylists, models and photographers took over Flaxton Gardens for the day to shoot their September calendar image, with Carmel Fulton from Pacific Motor Group providing the F-Type Jaguar, pictured below with Flaxton Gardens owner, Alan Thompson.

Flaxton Gardens provided the picturesque backdrop for the 1950’s inspired photo-shoot, showcasing the sleek F-Type Jaguar from the Pacific Motor Group. With so many photography location options at Flaxton Gardens, the photo-shoot took place predominantly in the Barrel Room, lawn and garden areas.

You can follow the progress of the 2018 Calendar on the Vintage Calendar Girls Inc. Facebook page and if you would like to support the charity through sponsorship, please email
